Reggae fans ahoy!
My track ‘August’ is featured in a documentary made by an independent filmmaker, Mark Brown. Trailer and more after the break :)
The film provides a detailed extract of 4 months of the life of Bayo, a striving, young and vibrant reggae artist, as he takes steps to progress through the world of UK reggae, exposing the ups and downs of the independent music industry and revealing what it really takes to break into it.
So far, the film has had it’s first official screening mid-november 2012 at the Soca Lounge Bar in Brooklyn, New York via Graymarkit Distributions and a second one at the Granville Cinema in Ramsgate, Kent, UK. Upcoming festival selection includes Grand Junction Film Festival, Sheffield Doc/Fest and Amsterdam Film Festival. The dates for these events are february 15th – 16th, june 12th – 16th, and may 31st accordingly.
The first television transmission takes place on 24th of february on Sky Community Channel in the UK (ch. 539). The channel is broadcasted nationwide, and is also available through Virgin Media and Freeview.. In other words, plenty of options to check out the film and more will follow! In case you decide to miss out on these screenings, the full-length version is available @ Fillim, at least for the time being.
Bayo also has some tracks at Soundcloud, so head on over and give the guy a listen! Gotta admit that despite I’m more into dub and such, I nonetheless find myself wondering whether I should give the a cappella a spin.. ;)
