For the past week, Helsinki has been on the Pocketgamer.biz Global Game spotlight. This series focuses on game dev hotspots around the globe, and the Helsinki feature includes interviews from people behind companies like Applifier, Boomlagoon, Grand Cru, Grey Area Labs, Red Lynx, Rovio and Supercell. The individual articles:
- Global Game: How Helsinki became the mobile industry’s hit factory
- Global Game: Helsinki is the ‘centre of gravity for the future of games’, says Supercell
- Global Game: Helsinki’s dextrous demoscene behind its mobile mastery, says Applifier’s Laakkonen
- Global Game: From starting out to selling up – RedLynx on how to thrive in Helsinki
Where I come in on all this is, I’ve been working on audio production for Supernauts. Currently in its beta-phase, this iPad game is scheduled for release in the upcoming months (Q2 / 2013). Guess you could describe the gameplay as “Minecraft meets Farmville” since sandbox building and resource management are the core elements. If you’d like to know more, there is some concept artwork, behind-the-scenes articles and more about the game on the Grand Cru blog. Anyway, I’ll try to follow up with a more detailed post of my work when the game is out globally.
