Yay, a new release: Phun Intended.. Or perhaps “new old” would be more appropriate, as this maxi single bundles together a few of my dance floor friendly releases from fall of 2013! If you’ve been following my recent demoscene releases you’re certainly at home with this.
Style-wise this maxi single feels to me like a good wedding dress: It delivers something new, old, borrowed and blue (?!) by fusing modern EDM influences, like electro house and moombahton, with melodical offerings of the more established dance music genres like 90s trance and 80s spacesynth.. Last one being something that’s way too much part of my musical roots to be neglected!
I wouldn’t hesitate nominating the release for some kind of “worst album artwork of 2013” award, but the artwork does come with a catch: It’s something I created using Algodoo (aka Phun), a freeware 2D physics simulation program. So in return for the somewhat fugly appearance you get frigging ANIMATED LASERS with physics like reflection when running the simulation. Suddenly La Disco-Tecq de Little Bitchard is alive!
The Algodoo/Phun project file is part of extra downloadable content (DLC) you get when buying the full release from Bandcamp. Besides this the DLC includes stem tracks for both I Walk This SMPTE Street and Four Seasons of Cheese!
List of shops & streaming services for the release..:
..and more to come whenever it is that the shops get the release up. I might (or might not) update the list at some point.. Let’s see =).
This release also marks the launch of my dance music imprint Bitch5lap. With this label my plan is to focus on releasing quality electronic dance music without too a tight genre restrictions. More on this later.
